The town of Jeparit got its name from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘home of small birds’, and it certainly lives up to it. Spend time bird watching while you’re visiting Jeparit and marvel at the many different species in the area.
Water-sport lovers will have a ball rowing, kayaking, water-skiing and swimming. There’s no better way to finish up a day of fun on the Wimmera River than with fish and chips in town.
Get a taste of the rich history of Jeparit at the Wimmera Mallee Pioneer Museum. Here you will find one of Australia’s biggest collections of pioneering history. Horse-drawn vehicles, agricultural machinery, original pioneer homesteads and a blacksmith shop are among the gems you will discover here as you step back in time to the early 1900s.
